Hmmm... trying my hand on creating some alternative rims... first try Hey Triz, Since your starting to tweak on the Elise mod, I moved it to the modding section for you. Tires look good for your first ever tires. How many polys are they? If you really get into trying your hand at tires/rims you could make several different types, and have them as an option in the mod.. Great start, on dusting off the mod.. Keep us posted on your activity with it.

Thanks! I'll try to keep the dust from settling on this one. It deserves to be finished. I Will take my time for it though. Polycount for this rim is pretty high... around 2300. I was indeed planning to create different rims so that there is some choice ... and it helps to get the hang of making a model from scratch

Yeah 2300 is real high. Try reducing the polys by a little more then half. Maybe around 850-900, and let's see how they look. You don't want wheels high in poly count, it will hurt the performance of the mod.. The model itself is low poly with good LOD modeling done on it already.

One thing at a time For now i'll just focus on making rims from scratch... doing a full blown model... some other day Besides we have a great car model already to work with, so it would be inefficient to do that all over again with the chance of actually coming up with a worse result . 2300 ... times 4 means 9200 extra poly's per car... thats alot of polys when having a field of cars So next move is to learn how to get a lower poly count while keeping quality in check

2 rims completed now. got 8 spoke down to 850 polys... still some optimization to do on the dual spoke. Left one is made by Dave. Image is just high poly count models cheers, Triz
