if you are talking about my sliding then i apologize. Yes I was a slider but I almost never lost control of my car, and this sliding was never done in a battle. Only alone for when catching up. The key to being a good drivers is knowing when to be aggressive and when to be submissive and let the other drivers mistake. That is why I won race one, I couldve easily dive bombed into first but I held 4th positin until the field spread out, braking early to assure no damage, and then when there was room between cars I made my attacks, passing 2 cars in 1 turn and the other in the next. Now sliding WAS faster here but there were many factors contributing to this. - Consistency of speed and stability
- being able to switch between driving styles and still be effective
- are you an experienced driver? You might be fast but do you know how a car will react to tire changes etc.
- Tire wear, I didnt expect tires to wear so much on race 2, you must consider when to slide and for how long
- will your car keep is stability when sliding with somespoiler damage, or will it become a unpredictable loose / tighter snapping brick
So for many drivers, afte considering these points a straight line was better, just make sure u didnt run off and crash and can you link turns smoothly together and not have bad entries or exits, do you expect the car to make weird turns when downshifting . Now there were a few of us who were good at this strategy, dave and I even reached below 1:31 lap times at 1:30.4 and 1:30.8 best lap times. While when I drove straight I could reach low 31's. -I must say my tires didn't last as long as I had hoped. Cosider these things before going out of your comfort zone, and practice practice practice! It is the most thing to be stressed, I hado put more than 2 hours of intense practice after setup tweaks (thnx dave) just to feel comfortable, so always PRACTICE before taking a risk. Hope I didnt take away from the point of this thread, feel free to move it if needed.

I believe you mean "Loose-set" ;D and BMX I couldn't agree more; Practice, Practice, Practice, and might I add make 2 setups one for the short stints and one for long stints and practice both of them with the AI cars so you'll know how your setup handles in traffic.

Spike, there's no need to make two different sets for the same track. I used one setup for qualifying, short race, and for the long race.. All you have to do is practice, and setup your car to be able to handle long runs.. In past series, Karl and I, (Karl's been my practicing partner and teammate for years now. ) we would start off practices with short runs, doing like 3 laps at a time, during this time, we would get use to the track and to start building out sets, and work on gearing. Then once we got the kinks out of our sets, we would slowly start doing what we would call "fuel runs" we would raise the laps to 15 or more laps, and then during this time, we would check on tire wear, and also how our sets reacted on the long runs. After we did that we would head back into the garage, and make the proper changes on our sets.. Then the next time we got together for a practice, we would warmup doing 1 or 2 short runs then go right for doing "fuel runs" again and again.. So with the right kind of practicing, there is no need for two sets for a race.

I just decided to make a quick vid of the big accident, thought it would be cool to show two POV's.
