Gianpiero Moretti died Saturday (Jan. 14) after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 67-years-of-age.
He was a retired racing driver having driven for over 37 years, hundreds of races and over 40 different types of cars. He is also the founder of the MOMO company in the 1960s. MOMO is a design company headquartered in Milan, Italy that makes accessories and parts for automobiles. MOMO are the initials for Moretti-Monza. Monza is a region in the Province of Milan.

he was a great guy to be around at the racetrack; liked by everyone as far as i know. at imsa races at lunchtime he would have a cauldron of fresh spaghetti with italian butter and sauce brought in by airplane for lunch for anyone who wanted it. and a nice word and greeting for everyone. he was one of a dwindling number in the world, a gentleman.
