I received some interesting questions about some situations that I think everyone should be informed, just in case someone elase has the same doubts. ============================ Scenario 1: When the caution comes out and pits are open, a driver pit and come out in 5th place (on the lead lap). Cars 6th - 10th are 1 lap down. If this driver decide to pit again the next time by (still under caution), can he then get to lineup back into 5th place ahead of the lap down cars? Or does he have to restart behind them even though he's on the lead lap? Answer: If a driver pit a second time (or pit too late) for whatever reason, he'll be giving up his physical position on track. So, when he gets back on track, the fact the cars in line in front of him are one or more laps behind wont matter. This driver will only get his physical spot back if the lapped cars are still to wave around on that lap. ============================ Scenario 2: On restarts, are the drivers allowed to pass cars before the start/finish line when the green flag is out? Because some people use lower gears and don't get going right away. Or aren't the drivers allowed to pass until they cross the line? Answer: Once the green is out, drivers are allowed to pass regardless they already crossed the start/finish line or not. When the green is out, the race is immediatly on. ============================ Thanks to Donaldson for the scenarios described above.
