any1 willing to teach me to drift EAGER TO LEARN ;D tip#1 you wont be able to have clean drifts around every or most corners if you race around on a fast or tight setup, myself and DK created custom setups for it in a few minutes buffing out rear sway bar and making the rear a little stiffer. We aren't pro's though but we have our fun and the pic in the other thread was one of the better drift's out of our 5 lap race when we both had a reasonable drift

any1 willing to teach me to drift EAGER TO LEARN ;D BMX: Step 1. You just started learning how to drive the last couple of months. Every track on this schedule is all new tracks for you. Step2. Concentrate on learning how to control your car, and finding your marks on the track. Step3. Use the setups that are given here, and practice practice practice., and learn how to drive them. All the setups provided here are stable and great sets to start out with... Step4. Just like everyone in NHRL tells ya. Don't chat so damn much in the server.. To earn guys respect is by your driving skills, by being patient, and by racing guys clean, not by the talking you do. ;D BMX and mustang, just concentrate on practicing and getting to be better drivers. Focus on learning each track and finding your marks on the track..

Little to add to last 2 posts ;D
Just some info: Typically drifting won't improve your laptimes at all. Unless your driving skill are really good. Which would mean you'll aim for NOT drifting in 90% of all turns. At least.

oh yeah racing tips! I've got a good one.... 90% Driver 10% setup Your making me feel like a Circuit Virgin DaveO this is my 1st races ever on these tracks (bar practise runs) Just something I have noticed BMX when I join the server for the practise/warm-up runs and all the other guys are ya no warming up and setting some good times and I see you pulled over on the side of the track talking away, now it is a proven fact that if you don't practise you don't get better. I hope you don't mind me saying this but after the race when I asked you how much practise you had put in and you said about 9hrs I was astounded because I put in about 10hours all up and I think my results showed that. I have a tip for you that works for me since we are both young when I get onto a new track I do a few hotlaps then I go all out hitting into everything breaking my car (all offline of course) this is how I learn the circuit throughly where if I do go off track where to and where not to go, I find out weather the camber strips are friendly and most importantly get it all out of my system.

. I hope you don't mind me saying this but after the race when I asked you how much practise you had put in and you said about 9hrs I was astounded because I put in about 10hours all up and I think my results showed that. An experienced driver only will need to do a fraction of what practice is required by a rookie driver to get up to speed. As the rookie is still learning on the basics - each track is new to you - the cars are new to you. You don't know in advance how the car will react on what circumstance and setup. - You have no general idea about where to look for the raceline and where brakepoints most likely are. Neither do you strictly hold on to your brakepoints, as would any experienced driver do So if, say, Harding or Dave have come to work out a fitting setup in 9h practice - and there's always some setups tweaks even on the last hour - as a rookie you'd rather need to practice about 4x as much. NHeat offers great help on practicing. The ghostcar feature is one such help. Another one would be running races against AI. The AI that comes with the mod is competitive at least to some level. For rookies, anyway. Try beating the AI. Clean. Once you are able to that, you have made a BIG step forward. But it require you to have somewhat understood physics, to be able to setup your car (or use the provided setups from schedule page). With "default" setups, you'll get a heavily understeering car that won't be of much use for road racing

mustang and i tried drifting with some loose cars. We actually got 1 good drift. It wasnt spectacular but it was completely sideways and some how i managed to straighten her out. I am never gonna try that in a race...
1/20 was good

hardingjr, thanks for the compliments ;D I've been driving heat for several years now... Now this mod SCGTS I think is awesome I'm totally addicted to it... Can't get enough of it!! ;D Beginning of this year, I had told Raybee over at the mod squad I would do a review of this mod for it's heat magazine, then I met this hotshot modder and RC driver (Cholerix) (who has turned into a good friend) and was asked to drive in there Northpoint race as an inrace reporter. Well between, oldsnlow, cholerix and myself we had written a review about this awesome mod which btw if I could get permission would love to post at all the heat sites.. BMX, will ya forget trying to drift, and listen to the advise these guys are giving you. Forget about speed, and trying to go so fast, just go back to the basics and learn each track. when You first learn to drive nobody expects you to be the fastest guy out there. I would rather see a slow driver who drove clean, had patience and had respect for all the other drivers on the track.

Mine you have ;D I would rather see a slow driver who drove clean, had patience and had respect for all the other drivers on the track. Yeah ! But to add a comment here: both bmxtwins and mustangman actually are improving, especially regarding clean driving and patience. Just compare Zolder performance to A1Ring. If you guys continue improving that rate, you may be up to average laptimes on one of the coming races. So far as I could tell, biggest problem by far is to stay focused throughout all a race from first to last second. Which is why there's that "no chatting" rule, btw... Now with having teamed up with Humty, bmx and mustang have a tutor ;D
