Just wanting to see how everybody else is going with there praccy? Haven't had a chance to race online yet, but I think I am getting there. One thing I think will decide this race is not 1st over the line but whoever stays consistent and doesn't catch any penalty's as they are everywhere! For this round I also might be away again! same reason (The Real Stuff! ;D), Well racing is Saturday night and we usually camp the night so will have to make a 3hours trip back home leaving at 7am to make it home by the 10am Sunday morning start time Don't see it happening . And with missing the last race around Adelaide also due to well I'm sure you can figure it out. There is also the possibility that Sugo could also be another one out. Incase it is I WILL be racing again with some of the best Tarmac dudes out there! ;D

One thing I think will decide this race is not 1st over the line but whoever stays consistent and doesn't catch any penalty's as they are everywhere! There's quite some p areas at Saridan track , but they can easily be avoided: just stay on the track ;D There had been some discussion back in 2004 about whether p areas on tracks are any good at all. Some were complaining they would spoil the races, since other, even faster drivers could run ahead - even though they couldn't ON the track and were collecting 2-sec penalties on the way, thus "cheating" ON the track, while being punished (another complaint) in an unfair, massive way. Well, those 2-sec penalty traps are simply one way (attempt) to try to make people stay where they should stay ALL the time, if only for good sportsmanship: ON the track. The fact there is those pens already indicates that appealing to this kind of sportsmanship doesn't work very well. Human kind doesn't work this way most time So there HAS to be some kind of negative reward for running offtrack to prevent people running offtrack and run incredible laprecords - and thus force others to run offtrack as well if these want to be competitive. The choice for track makers is to add in either pen areas or define offtrack areas sticky or very slippery. The "very slippery" method works very well for high powered cars such like GroupC mod cars. Run a GroupC car at Spa and you know what I mean ;D. It doesn't work well for Touring cars (HMC mod, same track). Adding sand pits all over (like at Sears) is no fun all. Same problem for ANY sim, btw. Which is why there's most often race admins penalizing shortcutting in a lot of other sim racing leagues. In Heat, track makers have all the tools they need to make a track "true to life" and both nasty for "offtrack volunteers". It's "just" a matter of how much work you put to it. Adding P areas is easiest way - which is why they are quite popular on most Heat tracks But as mentioned: they can easily be avoided. This just requires a tad additional discipline and the moral to drive clean as can be ;D

Excellent summary Cholerix. Here are a few screen shots from a prior track and the way I try to do the Traps: I try to ensure that two tires must remain on the track/curb or you get a "penalty". The "Sputters" (Cheat) are further back. From the first shot: Set the basic trap, compile the track, do chassis view ingame, drive extremely slow, back and forth to see the trigger point. Adjust the trap accordingly if tires are off track/curb (i.e. 2 tires must remain fully on the track/curb), retest until perfect. Then set all other traps the same precise distance. The "S" traps are approximately 1.667x-1.75x the distance from curb/track as the T's. Sometimes the S's can be different distance depending on the circumstance. In the second shot: The white-dashed line is the trap location, in relation to the gold curb, and green track. Sardian was one of the first tracks I made, so I don't recall how precise those are.

Sardian p traps are very well placed IMO Interesting screenie, btw. Didn't know that a P trap is just a line. I alway had thought it would be an area
