well, you are always welcome to join us, at the listed series at the web site, where you found this forum. the VTA series is about to begin and the cars are certainly less intense than the group C cars; but the races can be just as competitive. ;D

What you need to have (installed) is NASCAR Heat game or Heat Essentials Package. Essentials is the basic game engine without all the NASCAR content - and it's legally for free Furthermore you need to have the mod installed for the series that you want to participate in. For GroupC series, it's of course the GroupC mod . Typically the series' site/webpages will tell you about what mod you need to have As original NASCAR Heat is about NASCAR racing,, you need to add the road racing tracks that are run in the series to your track folder (data- or run- folder). Tracks are available here, here and here . Check the series schedule page for the tracks that you need to install. For GroupC, you'll find that info hereTo get the other drivers' custom car paints show up right, you need to copy their car paints (for GroupC available here to the mod's folder Basically, that's all Apart from skill and practicing to run the cars save and fast ;D For GroupC mod, the cars are all equally competitive. Definitly and proved in 5 series already. So you can test and chose what car fits best to your driving style - as they handle differently, and not just slightly. For beginners, neither the Lancia nor the Sauber would be recommended choices for example ;D To get an idea what speed is run in the races and to dl setups, check this page. Add about 2-3 secs to the laprecords listed here and you get the typical race speeds ah, one more note: though you can run NHeat with keyboard as well as joystick and -pad, I'd recommend to use FF-wheel and pedals. Configured right, NHeat gives great force feedback - just may be that configuring takes a while, as not all options are available from the game screens. Could be you have to edit options.cfg manually. Not much of a problem, though NHeat supports as much input devices as your OS does, so you can as well use additional shifter sticks and keyboxes Once you have everything installed, configured, setup, tested and run in practice, joining the races is easy: just login from the game's multiplayer screen to the given server address at racetime (at best 15-30 min earlier for warmup runs)

Does a person have to be on here for a long time before he can have an Avatar?

;D
no - anybody can have an avatar. Just check your profile/modify profile and enter your avatar's image webaddress. If you don't have a webplace to store your avatar image, just yell - there's plenty of space on the speedsims webserver - my isp has unexpectedly increased my webspace by 100% without additional cost ;D
