One fella I know from LFS just won the south african Shelby CanAm, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it has ever seen this car in Heat, as it looks mighty sexy: www.shelbycanam.co.za/Galleries/2009/3Kyalami.htmBasically its a kind of LMP2 body with 3.5L V6 nissan engines, so it has to be very fun to drive.

how about 3 versions the V6 and a 4cyl & V8 just for fun and we can get multi class races or single class (would that be much extra work or is it just power specs?)

So far as I have noticed, multiclass racing is something more people say they wanna have than actually do race in... at least that's one conclusion I'd take from 2008 multiclass SCGTS series.
Half the drivers bailed out because of having been involved in incidents that happened because 50% were having trouble running in close traffic in a field of different speed - which would be the problem with any multiclass mod/series
In real life you're running multiclass to increase numbers in a race - in simracing multiclass racing seem to cause decreasing numbers on the grid after first few races. So I don't see what use a multiclass mod of a specs car could be ?

ya know i've noticed that too - i just thought all the LFS'ers were babies that don't really know how to drive, multi-class racing requires THE BEST drivers in all the classes period. Multiple speeds / closing speeds, cornering lines and doing it while fighting for position AND safely for everyone IMO all single class series (F1, super bikes, etc... even Dakkar as there is too much spread between the vehicles ) are just not as intense. My point, not to insult anyone (honestly I'm including myself), is that sim racers fall just a bit short of these elite drivers. Though maybe when we get paid to do this...

Hey Kev, I think you are underestimating yourself Remember when we used to race LFS GT along with Paul (Jonesman)? I think we didnt have any issue running multiclass, we even chose GT2 which IMO requires even more track awareness than GT1. My point it that successfull multiclass racing is even more related to experience rather than skill. And even in top leagues like Masters of Endurance you would still find hot heads bomb diving into the lower classes, but heck, there are idiots even in the 24 hours of Lemans

Though maybe when we get paid to do this... Well, you'd only get paid in case you'd be able to race professionally, not vice versa Just like in real life Seems to be what certain people seem to think would be the way simracing has go go anyway. R2P, iRacing and now SWR are the step towards that. 99% of the field pay to race so that 1% some day get paid to race... guess the day simracing has entirely turned that "professional" way is the day I'll quit You'd have perfectly maintained races with only perfectly competent drivers and some of these even professionals or semi-pro drivers. Only problem would be that you would hardly be able to compete, unless you'll be able to do as much practicing as would be necessary to compete with those guys. If you have a job and a real life apart from sim racing, you would be out . Or rather in, only to pay the fee to start ;D Check out forums where people post about their iRacing experience and why they dropped....

My comment on the multiclass from a GT2 perspective the racing was a lot more entertaining and had a lot more turns in it than single class racing. More overtaking, more risks, different strategy's all added together not in many cases was the race decided right after the last pit stop as single class racing usually is. But on the same token racing in a small field takes away from that enjoyment I mentioned. Compare a small filed of multi-class to HMC at Suzuka East with 20cars (imagine that ) there is little to no competition. As far as Simulation racing going professional, personally I love the idea of being payed to race so that I don't have to work, but if I didn't have to work I would be working on my own cars to race the real thing instead of a computer substitute . But the last couple of weeks have been pretty darn good to me as far as online racing goes. For starters I won a bet I made with a friend on Stockcar Heat that if I made top qualifier of the NZ Champs they would buy me a copy of rfactor (approx $70NZD, my computer just, juuuuust runs it) I was top qualifier by one point. I got my copy of rfactor and started racing that getting use to it. The week following I done an LFS race on the demo in which the first place prize was an S2 license, I won the race and had sent to me my LFS S2 license (worth approx $58). That's pretty awesome huh? Then I got in talks with Dad and in turn for some massive favors I did for him he was going to buy for me a computer of another fellow Rfactor driver for $200NZD (what a deal!). But last night the guy cutting me the awesome deal made a little bit of a half hearted bet. I wont go into details but I won it again and now am buying the computer for paying postage and a box of bourbon (approx $50NZD). I was also offered a steering wheel for $30NZD last night on rfactor. All this sparking from an event on a NASCAR Heat mod getting lots and lots of $$$ worth of gear and software for next to nothing. Some one is looking out for me up there .
