Haha, hey Cholerix, good to see Speedsims is still alive and well How many seasons of Group C has there been now? I will probably try, what helps is that most races on Speedsims now are on a Saturday night rather than a Sunday. Thats why I had to drop out last time I was here - late night on Sunday simracing and early start on Monday morning for school just didn't mix But I should be able to race a bit more now, and hopefully maybe log my first points since the 2007 Season (yup, I checked the archives ) It's all about finding the time to practice to get up to some sort of race speed, but Ill see what I can do...like I said, the brutal acceleration of these beasts is really rather intoxicating...I suppose that's why it's still so popular eh? ;D

Haha, hey Cholerix, good to see Speedsims is still alive and well How many seasons of Group C has there been now? Looks like we're more alive than ever after having well recovered from that blow end of 2007 ;D There have been 6 GroupC series up to now - this one will be 7th. I will probably try, what helps is that most races on Speedsims now are on a Saturday night rather than a Sunday. Thats why I had to drop out last time I was here - late night on Sunday simracing and early start on Monday morning Figured that might be a popular problem, thus we switched to saturdays in 2008. Paid off It's all about finding the time to practice to get up to some sort of race speed, but Ill see what I can do...like I said, the brutal acceleration of these beasts is really rather intoxicating...I suppose that's why it's still so popular eh? ;D That and that incredible stress you get while trying to really go fast in these. I'm always still on a high adrenaline level even 2h after each GroupC race ;D

Ahh, yeah I had a look through at the archives of all the previous GroupC series, including the 2 I wind up running a couple of races in, great times. Im glad you switched, as I for one will now be able to run in races again - not all the time obviously, as work, gigs etc may still prevent me from doing that, but whenver I can, I shall endevour to do so And yeah, tell me about it! Still remember running the Hungaroring in my Ford, literally the only time I've ever had white knuckles running in a sim race - really was right on the line between speed and total disaster, real adrenaline rush ;D

One suggestion about chosen car to those who have not run in a GroupC race before: Jaguar and Toyota are easiest to drive and thus beginner's best choice Sauber and Lancia are fastest - and most brutal rides. NOT recommended choice for beginners unless you are a very skilled and focused racer. That case they can be outstanding fun ;D The other car types are somewhat in between and all have their specific advantages and/or disadvantages. You won't get any advantage with your car choice. Jaguar for example turns best, Lancia accelerates best, Sauber reaches highest topspeed. But in total all the cars are equally competitive in road racing. If you are

I was seeking an explanation like this to pick my car. ;D There's, somewhere, any Long Beach setups available for Jaguar or Toyota? .

Hmm...am I right in saying as well, Cholerix, that the Ford Zakspeed cars are relatively easy to handle too? Seeing as I was marginally less mediocre in them then I was in other cars, I would recommend them to beginner racers

So far as I recall, March, Ford and Lola are slightly more on the "easy turning" side, while Porsche and Nissan have a little extra speed. But I wouldn't take that too literally. The Lancia for example is one of the best turning cars in the mod - but nonetheless hell of a ride because of it's engine specs. There's more aspects to what should make a car be your choice.
At best, you jump in 2-3 different ones and try going fast on the same track to make your choice. For those who had been at Baton race, that track does great for GroupC as well, though its quite scary at turn 1 and 2 (you can go fullspeed there) ;D
I'll put up setups for several car types for the tracks in the schedule. Just depends on if someone has chosen the specific car type. So while there may yet be no Long Beach setups for Jaguar and Toyota, there will be in case someone has chosen to run any of these cars
Basically you can take a setup for a different car type from the mod's setup table and will have a good base setup already after just adjusting gear ratio. Differences in the setups between different cars in this mod are typically way smaller than differences in the setups from different drivers. I'd be lost if I'd have to drive any of Crash's setups for example. But my Porsche setups did work great on the Ford, March and Lancia - for me ;D

Good rundown of the cars there Cholerix...could you possibly change my car on the drivers page for the series to #64 Jaguar for now? I'm working on a custom paintjob for the series which I'll send to you in the next few days

Who picked long beach as a track? Just took the lancia there on karls setup... and whoa its a beast, just rubbing the walls everytime you make a wrong move, its a car for perfectionists, but once you nail your goal time and get a whole lap spot on its great... 25laps and a 1:06:867 Im a happy bunny. Oscar.
