Hey is it possible to create a track for rfactor (or rich burns ralley) then convert it. This could be beneficial to our community if it is as rfactor has a great track creator.
CLARIFICATION: IS there a way to convert a track from rfactor TO heat

First off your gonna need 3dsMax, and it ain't cheap. Especially for a hobby!. Well I've seen heat tracks converted to Rfactor before... But I think alot of guys take nr2003 tracks and convert them to heat.

it's possible, yes And I'm pretty sure there's already some tracks that have found their way from rF/ISI to NHeat I'm pretty sure it's quite some work. I've never tried to convert a track, though especially those 2 yet missing SCGT tracks Chatham and Las Vegas are a constant temptation to me to give it a try one day... after GT1, DTM and maybe some GroupC 2.0, Lemans 1970, Group 5, .... ;D

i believe chatham is located in the county of ISI, on the south face of SCGT land, Think Aardvark pretty close to it also.

It also happens to be near Eville Beach. Always fun to see racing through those parking lots! PS. Thinking about it, we were a lot more open minded about where to race back then in SCGT

CLARIFICATION: IS there a way to convert a track from rfactor TO heat You are running on one right now with your next league race. As I mentioned in the Teretonga Park released thread: "Thanks to lasercutter (Dave) for giving permission to convert his rFactor track!"

Thinking about it, we were a lot more open minded about where to race back then in SCGT I agree on Eville Beach. Hilton was fun too, as was Snake's Track, Carrera, Manzitino, Northern.... Quite a lot of fantasy tracks with great layouts in SCGT Chatham indeed is in ISI country - as is Northpoint... but there's great new-build Chatham and "Desert Speedway" versions for F1C/rF, not made by ISI

CLARIFICATION: IS there a way to convert a track from rfactor TO heat Yes it can be done but it takes ALOT of DEDICATION,TIME,and PATIENCE to learn about Tracks for Heat and rFactor. As far as the track creator for rF and RBR if you are talking about Bob's Track Builder I currently use it to make my track meshes because you can drive on it in a matter of seconds of a change to see if it is what you want. You can export from BTB in X format now which will open in max or open the rF gmt file in Simed and export it as a 3ds to import into max. I don't even know if you can buy max 3.1 anymore but it is availible if you do some searches and I recomend also buying Simed as it will help you with alot of converting. There is ALOT of tuts and tools availible here at Speedsims and my site too if you are REALLY SERIOUS about learning to make or convert tracks. But I warn you it is not for the lazy to try. It isn't rocket science (heck even I learned) but it does take ALOT of TIME and PATIENCE !! PEACE

Yeah...I think alot of folks have given up on that kind of dream, which is why we have so few track makers now. If you guys think making a mod is hard....doing a track is much more complicated. But as has been proven, if you want it bad enough....it can be done. As FFSBudman says though....it takes ALOT of patience...and ALOT of time. Just checking the track for holes, and getting those fixed, is enough to turn someone away from wanting to do it. Then comes the AI lines and all that....getting those to work correctly. It's a large undertaking, that's for sure.
