I was like WTF when I read this, but according to iRacing website, they thought their current engine doenst cover all the racing classes they need, so they have been looking around and due to the massive amount of mods for NHeat, they decided its what theyre looking for!
According to that same site, they have come to an agreement with Hasbro Interactive and during the next week they're gonna be pursuing any websites with "illegal heat" activity!
However, they acknowledge the hard work of some talented mod makers and are willing to make a deal with the best of them, consisting in a T-shirt and a portrait of G.W Bush signed by him and also by Dave Kraemmer or whatever the f*** its spelled.
Congrats for reading until here and have a happy April fools day!
Just got my iracing invite....gonna give it a shake down tonight
"...This is my life, livin' on a highway. It's all I've ever done, all I've ever known, just wanna play one more show & make some music with my friends."
AFAIK, all the cars in iRacing are real cars...I wouldnt call obscure thee Pontiac Solstic or the Radical...as for tracks, I really like the ones available so far: Lime Rock, Silverstone, VIR (!!) and a few more.
I think iracing will have to wait for a while till I get me new machine. (I hate the solstice BTW - brakes grab way too much way to early and I need to move the shift points. I assume after I get past the rookie stage I'll get to play with my setup??)
I get a nasty freeze on laguna just as I turn right in the corkscrew, not a good place
I find I really dont get much feed back from the car, I have a hard time knowing when the back will step out. The tracks are nice but it does look a little arcade-ish to me. Nice that the interior bobbs around to simulate my head bouncing but the track stays glued in front of me. Oh and I really like to look a little ahead, visibility is kind of limited. I'm also not convinced the physics are there eather really. Maybe it's just the lack of "feel" I get. The tracks are beautiful though.
I'd also like to just go to a track and catch a race, not necessarily join a season first, all week I've seen one other car on track, except for the one race I managed to time, and that was when windows wanted to do an update so that killed me.
Not sure if I like the whole web-interface thing, even sitting in "spectate" I feel like I'm looking at a web page.
The whole sanctioning / organizational makeup does have a very well thought out professional feel though that I do like. I think the irating=$$ makes a lot of sense - kills the noobs crashing before it begins.
LOL didn't intend to have this turn into a book report
Dad's gonna come over next weekend and give it a run but I think for now it will have to wait a bit.

FF is probably a matter of setup but calling the tracks "a little arcadish" is quite a surprise as accuracy of the tracks is the one thing iRacing seems to be most proud about
just re-read my post and I see why it was mis-read, sorry, the tracks are very nice, it's just the c*ckpit (word filter ;D ) & the rest of the interface I find I bit arcadeish.
actually it occured to me that, I think, most sims get the movement wrong - the p*nispit ( that's not a bad word ) should stay glued to my helmet and the road should do the bouncing.
