so I'm thinking about setting up a little series, very informal (much like what Lucky ran a few years back - how many know what I'm talking about, raise your hand and I'm just wondering if there's any interest: -link below is set for a multi-class event but i think i'd rather use the MRT (link is not public yet) -similar to a go-kart series -maybe pick one track and only use it's configs (maybe not - i dunno, still conceptual a bit) any comments, suggestions, ideas, interest? www.bsonline.ca/racing/servers2.htm

Have never run the MRT, but doesn't look bad to me One thing I'd suggest would be only to use short track layouts. Isn't that much fun running 100 mph on a 4 mile track Race lengths of 15-25 minutes would be another suggestion. And reverse start order on 2nd run + (if possible) weight handicaps I don't know if there's any way in LFS to force usage of a certain setup as Lucky did with his Heat series, but to me that was less enjoyable than putting out a default setup that people could tweak to their likings

actually that's pretty much what i was thinking -only using "club" tacks, ~1min. lap times -10-15min races -definately reverse start order -I agree with weight handicaps (per race day or for entire series length?) but that means policing (or trust) and I dont have time for a ton of administration -unregulated setups (see above ;D)

Hey Kev, once you figured a schedule, drop me a line. I'd like to put up some promotional "flyer" for the series

With LFS you will find me at least a few nights a week out on the Liberty Cruise Servers. They just put up there 3rd server the other day.. You will find at any given time about 30 peeps out on there servers. (S2 License) Nascar Heat and LFS are my two all time favorite racing sims! Would really enjoy some kind of a series in LFS. Thanks, Dave

glad to see the interest in LFS isn't dead yet! You can get a demo atm it's not at a fully released state but rather at the "S2 ALPHA" stage, the current DL version is "Z (133MB)" The current "S2 download will function as a demo until unlocked." The demo has a reduced number of cars (mrt is not included) and tracks. You can purchase an s1 (more cars & tracks but not all) or s2 (full content) license. (License refers to software, not a drivers license like iRacing) Find a mirror site you like here www.lfs.net/?page=downloadsFor an approximation on the price of an S1, Upgrade or S2 license, see this table : ........GBP..EUR .....USD .....CAD ......AUD .....YEN S1 £ 12 € 15.16 $ 21.58 $ 22.60 $ 26.56 ¥ 2309 S2 £ 24 € 30.32 $ 43.17 $ 45.20 $ 53.11 ¥ 4619 Check out the users guide wiki en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Main_Page for all the info on cars, tracks, licenses, setups, etc... The forum is also very handy & most of the people are a good lot www.lfsforum.net/The s2 (and s1 i think) license gives you access to LFSworld, a very cool website that shows almost any stat you could ever want. Also shows whos online, where and a quick join feature. LFS is a sim, not a game, they get p-o'ed if you call it a game, read this... www.lfs.net/?page=moreaboutOnce you buy into LFS you pay nothing else until the next major step, I mean the next fee comes at the s3 level. All update patches are free, it's at 'z' now so there have been more than 26 updates, remember it's still in alpha development. One complaint that keeps getting thrown around is the slow development time, but LFS is the project of 1 physics coder, 1 modeler & 1 web coder. Now the bad news, it is likely (not definate) that LFS will never be released for moding. (Search the forum for moding posts) Also due to the small user cost LFS has vurtually no external licensing fees, this means almost no real-life content. Biggest bummer for me is no real-life tracks. (the tracks all come with multiple configs & forward & reverse of every config so there's a lot of variety) Very few real cars as well, I think the only real cars are the MRT, Raceabout, Formula BMW & BMW Sauber. There is however some distinct real cars that the available cars are based on...LX4 & 6 are chattworth's, the uf's are old style mini's, xf's are typical 4 banger hatchbacks, the fz is a hybrid ferrari & porsche, not sure about the xr's but the fxo most closely resembles a mitsu. gallant imo. Content can be found here www.lfs.net/?page=contentsLOL this ends my LFS tutorial ;D

Ya...I love my FXR but the MRT's are under used IMO and I kind of want a go-kart club feel with short tracks & autocrosses.

I was thinking that i'd change the name to the SOUTH CITY KART CLUB'S ARRIVE & DRIVE SERIES and stay mostly on the short SO tracks with maybe weekend trips to Jamacia & England every now & then.

Sounds like a good plan. I've been spending some of my time running around on the public servers latley and having a blast.. Plus running around for heat.. Haven't had this much fun with Heat and LFS in a long time!!
