time for some 101 explanations. i find that applying some trim to my setup greatly increases my stability in corners and reduces need for excess stiffness in chasis. i would though like as formal an explaination of this component as possible. i hope someone can explain it. thanks

mmmh ... so far as I have understood, trim is kind of bias to steering

i have been told that it is somewhat equivalent to toe in of front suspension. the default setting (.000)will pull the car (everything else being equal) a bit to the left. Remember this was a anti clockwose oval racing to begin with. a setting of 0.50 should be no pul in either direction. Higher numbers should pull a little more to the right. As to why after more laps you can use a softer suspension if that is what i understood you to feel; a stiffer suspension well generally react faster to steering as you get more comfortable with track and the "Line" you may need less corrections and a softer suspension may then be workable.

I've always thought 0.000 would be neutral, while everything > 0 would trim the car to steer left by default Which is why on road tracks default setups always have trim = 0.000 While on ovals default setups almost always ways have trim > 0

the effect is not large; but, .50 in neutral and lower numbers go left. try it with light cars at say indy oval with flat straights and it is easier to feel. my source for this was john bodin.

well i do feel a tug on st8s, something of a wobbling more than i would with any thing more than 0 and even more under braking into corner. but once in the corner/s[if a double] its smoother than using stiff suspension. at monza it was great i had front suspen at lowest values and rear suspen up just enough to compensate to keep back off curbs due to front so low. here at zolder is pretty much the same situation. i think rite now at zolder i set trim to .5xx and car is smooth as silk. i'm still off suggested lap time of 47 by about 3-4 secs but i havent found a good gear ratio yet. plus i'm still learning braking and apexing points. with some good tire temp values i assume i should be in 40's by sat. by race i better b on 47 or better.
to me i assumed trim was similar to flying a plane and put in for the oval racing to better handle car on ovals.
a while back after being losing at kylami by 7 laps i down loaded one of crashes, choler, and someone elses setup from site and that had trim values of some .1xx. the car was undriveable for me with my kart simulator and i never tried it again until monza just past where i was now using a tsw evo with a modified circuit board.
i suppose its user justifiable or whatever works.
just thought i'd ask, thanks for feedback.

sorry cant answer that k. but i test various degrees of the trim and o_n_s is rite at 3.[the max] the car had an undriveable pull to one side. so a decreased my trim from ,5 which had a noticable twitch to under .2 and the car is smooth and turning steady low 52's. i know thats not a competitive time but the car hasnt gone off track all day. i'm sure i'll find 47 or close to it by next sat. good luck and thanks for positive feedback.

ok, I've just made a couple of tests on straights trim=0.000 is definitively neutral setting. No steering bias trim>0.000 makes the car steer right by default, even at 0.050 (if only slightly) Dunno if there are other sideeffects, but I didn't notice any Which doesn't mean that putting in some trim might not work for your setup
