Ok... So... I could convince my wife eventuelly that i did really needed a 'race seat' for my simracing hobby. And the fact that cooknl came with a very good deal for half the price helped it too. Yes, I actually bought a race seat lol I already got : " your nuts blah blah." But still, I was wondering if I am the only one around nuts enough to get one. I know that my team mates are just as nuts. Heck Chris n Rob bought one too lol. It's pretty sturdy, had to make only tiny modification to the steeringwheel mount to get it more stable and maybe soon i need to make a better stand for the monitor so its a bit lower. Any further ideas. Shoot! Don't mind the wireing but yeah, So here it is:

thats a great ride triz. very close to mine in detail. the tsw has wider steering wheel, which is easier on my 50" shoulders though. the tsw pedals were a nag like all synthetic race pedals, but they are weldable and i welded a .5" dia steel bar with a length of 6" to accomodate my size 14 feet. lastly under the pedal i center a block of wood so my heels wouldnt kep sliding around. btw i can disaaemble my rig & pack it in a large suit case, thats everything but the seat. as for the seat, its a simple wooden replica of sprint go kart seat. aside from the tsw units, the entire frame structure is wooden, not including bolts, screws, angle metal pieces. while i'm at it might i recommend a wide screen tv with a width greater than 50". 50" is the bare minimum i would recommend, 55 or greater is the best. 46" will not show all the guages clearly when the desktop is centered and magnified. of course the wide screen will have to go on the floor.
ps, i'll b out for the next few races. need to practice more.

Very nice stuff, Triz!!! Wish I had means to buy something like that!! My wife wouldnt be a problem to convince. In fact, she would be happy to have the kitchen stools I use as 'rig' back. ;D ;D .

Hehe, Well this was a one in a million chance. Normally i wouldnt have the 'means' either. This one was at a reduced price. Been on a stool for a long while too hehe.

That's awesome. I wish i had one but the wife would never allow it.
Don't worry triz, she will never let you hear the end of it. Every argument that comes up this seat will be involved in one way or another. Are you sure its worth the mental anguish for years to come?

Every argument that comes up this seat will be involved in one way or another. Are you sure its worth the mental anguish for years to come? She had a few conditions like : I can have a go too right? So yes, I am not entirely sure if I realised the full scope of this purchase lol Oh well, if it becomes to much, I'll move it to Chris' house, so at least it will be out of sight cheers, Triz

I don't know how well that would fly in my place, even if i have the room, I don't think it would fly. I need a better wheel at least first. lol It does look great though.

Thats a pretty cool rig Triz.
I know that wouldn't fly at my house. Like Donaldson said if it did fly my wife wouldn't let me forget about it.

Hehe, That part will be installed when i move this apparatus to Chris' place And where do you install the GPS? He won't need GPS, he already knows how to find the winners circle. With his new Rig, he's going to be wanting to play even MORE. I have this feeling we will be seeing this fast guy in the winners circle even more now.. He's got the talent, and the experience. Now he's going to want to practice even more with his new rig.

cmon, quit drooling & start tooling. a frame like that is a snap to construct. even if u splurged on a metal frame the weld tacks wouldnt add up to more than 30$ much less the grade of metal they used.
now pay attention.
we will use triz's photo for reference when necessary. this is for a wood frame
1st of all each driver must have certain critical dimensions recorded: -distance of backside of waist to feets soles -distance of top of shoulders to b*tts bottom -distance of arms length to comfortably reach/hold steering wheel
2nd will be the fasteners -screws with lengths from 1/2" to 1 1/2", maybe a few 2" as well, thin base diameter like dry wall threads _assorted iron braces(shelving angles) fron 3/4" to 2"
3rd wood -2x4 is best, how much depends on pockets & necessity -1x4 mainly for detailing -1X6 for who knows what
4th is a dimensioned drawing -u wont need autodesk for this -take the dimensions listed in the 1st step and put them together to form a box. (from the pic, u can see that the frames metal creates a square with lenght for the leg room & width
now over to the wood
assuming the builder has tools put the 2x4 cut pieces on the floor use angles and screws to fasten them together so that it looks like a rectanle just like the pic
of course this was done to the drivers dimensions so there will b space for a seat and for pedals, the seating is last
ok we now have the base spline of the skeleton prepared. lets add the table for the steering wheel. here u can choose which ever size of wood want, 2x4, 1x4 or even the 1x6 - you will need 3 cuts of it: 2 for vertical support & 1 for the steering wheel base -this where the top of shoulder to bottom & arm length dimensions are required. keep in mind to add tolerance for any seating type(oem car seat: ~5" base displacement, sparco seat:2.5-4" from seat bottom to ground, ect) - use those dimensions to cut the right size pieces of wood -the choice is yours on how to fasten the 3 pieces --i say use angles for the base to the 2 vertical supports cause it makes it easy if you want to set a tilted base. -- to attach the verticals that now hold the base use angles or cut more wood & and use long screws
this leaves pedals which should have space alotted to it prevously --place the pedals inside the frame, then cut either of the wood types and place the wood in front of the pedal --use angles to lock in the pedals in the positon of choice.
last is the seat. i could afford a pro go kart seat, so i took the pre seats dimensions and sdapted it to form a simple bench like structure, with out all the rib & thigh protrcting side wall. you can do the same with any seat. build a legless bench with what ever back height desired. or one can use a pro seat --again put the seat insde the frame, then put a piece of wood in front use angles and screws to secure.
i hope this helps or inspires some releif. amongst you all. get back to me if u have any questions. ive done alot of build and rebuilding
u might want to build a small coffee table like structure to use for your monitor. cheers gl
