After about 1/2hr worth of preliminary work on the Aston: i deleted the brakes and tires (that lost better than 100,000p's) added a mesh optimize and got it down to less than 3900 i need to re-work a few things that went a bit spikey but 4500 looks do-able for high1 after wheels are put back in. i assume we're still looking at 4500 as a max. or can push the limit up a bit as computers are getting better? looked at the saab ~760,000polys & the bmw ~1,000,000polys

4500 is no hard wired limit. It has been rather some agreement, that "as detailed as much, only as much poligons as absolutely neccessary" comes down to somewhat 4000-4500
Have to admit, that up to now I was only able to cut down the Lotus Elise to 4700

Well guys i think that 6000p's shouldn't be a problem. I ran 15000p cars on my old system.

Uh...you need to quit with those cars, Karl. They look too good for these guys (just kidding). ;D
Awesome work though....looks very detailed.
I did have a thought though, after looking at the Lotus.Bear with me as I explain this....
If you removed the hood (bonnet...whatever you call it on a Lotus), and did some tweaks here and there, and modeled a new front end for it...you know what you are getting close to???
A Grand Am Daytona Prototype (hint, hint....nudge, nudge...wink, wink) ;D
