Colorado National Speedway is now available for Heat. ;D
Track Facts:
Length: 3/8 mile paved oval
Colorado National Speedway is my Saturday night home track.
CNS Colorado National Speedway is a conversion from the NR2003 track originally created by Sticky at Windy City Racing. Sticky had given permission for conversion of any of his NR2003 Windy City Racing tracks in the TMS Forums back on 05/27/2008. His request of leaving in the WCR billboards is done, and he asked to be cut in if a track was ever sold. No plans to sell at this point, unless someone wants to buy it, and I'll work out the details with him at that point. Sticky did a excellent job on the NR2003 CNS version, one of the better models I have seen in all of the conversions I have done.
I have tried to extend the original version for Heat, especially being my home track. Having local knowledge, I have tried to make the track as realistic as possible. I believe this is one of the best tracks I have released, and I don't say that often. I could be biased though. ;D
This Heat conversion has several changes/additions for Heat, some of which are:
The Sky Dome is included in this one and really gives the feeling of "movement" ingame, and eliminates the repetitive nature of the scheme used in the original Heat method. This has rougher infield, sand, and slick surfaces in key areas.
many hole fixes, sinage changes/additions for local sponsorship, bumpier/slick sections.
Walls:entire rebuild, Mountains, some track re-texturing, Barrier additions/changes, much re-texturing and local additions throughout, to make it as realistic as possible.
43 Pit Stalls, right side outer/curved Stalls, should be large enough for cars in all Mods.
etc, etc additions/changes throughout!!
Doughnuts are also a kick on the infield, kicking up dirt/sand, and also smoke from the Figure 8 surface. Infield Collision Walls are at a minimum, leaving the Figure 8 layout available for some playing.
---
CNS started out in 1965 as little more than a smoothed dirt oval carved out of a large cornfield near the town of Erie, CO. Many of the old timers still refer to the track as just "Erie" instead of it's given name.
Larry Dechant was president of the Rocky Mountain Stock Car Racing Association in 1965 and moved the club from Englewood Speedway to CNS to start racing Late Model stock cars. At the time, CNS was the only track in the area running these type of cars on the oval.
In it's first 23 years as a dirt track, the oval took on many different configurations until 1989 when Jim Opperman bought the facility and reconstructed it into a 3/8 mile paved oval. He also added an "X" through the infield to host Figure 8 racing. Colorado National Speedway has since grown into one of the premier racing facilities in the country.
Racing Divisions at CNS: Late Models, Pro Trucks, Grand American Modifieds, Sportsman Stock Cars, Figure Eight Stock Cars, SuperModifieds, Midgets, Mini Sprints, Legends Car Series, Modified Coupes, Super Stocks, Trains.

I would like to thank:
Sticky: for giving permission to convert his NR2003 track.
DaveO: for all the testing, invaluable feedback, setup, GCF.

Enjoy...Smoke ;D
p.s. There has been talk over the years of increasing the CNS layout to 1/2 mile, but that has never occurred. And also the normal Night racing.
hmmm
