CNS Figure8, Colorado National Speedway is now available for Heat.
Track Facts: paved Figure 8 layout
CNS Figure 8, Colorado National Speedway, is a follow on of my prior released CNS 3/8 mile paved Oval. The original released CNS Oval will allow the Fig8 layout to be run and count laps and lap times, and have full access to Pits, but the AI is unaware of the Figure 8 layout.
I didn't know if there would be any interest in the Figure 8 version of CNS, but decided to release this rather than collect dust on my disk.
With the CNS Figure 8 version:
the AI will follow the Figure 8 layout and has smoother curbing when transitioning from the Oval to the Figure 8 track surfaces to reduce the larger Curb "bump" in the Oval version.
Cones have been added to make the new layout more obvious ingame. The Flagger has been moved to the actual Figure 8 starter tower/line.
There are no Pits in the Figure8 version, this seems to be a Heat limitation of being able to have the AI understand the normal pitting process when the more complex Figure 8 layout is used.
I have made tweeks to the AI for Figure 8 racing, they are much more aggressive and cranky, making for some real close racing and a lot of rubbing going on. ;D
This is actually a lot of fun to drive, and the AI are a real challenge!!
As I mentioned, I decided to go ahead and release this version rather than just sitting on my disk.
