Patch emerges as WGTC Oval series 2012 Champion.
After visiting 8 different venues throughout the U.S., Patch emerges as victor of the WGTC Oval Series 2012. Being fast all season with claiming pole 4 times, Patch has shown to be a regular winner on the Ovals in his Viper. We saw him winning Michigan, Texas, Las Vegas, Ponoco, Dover Downs and Milwaukee. Although not claiming pole every race, he clinched the title.
The crowning of Patch becoming champion had virtually happened in Dayton2, even when he finished 7th. His lead in points was 27 at that point, making it impossible to close the points gap. In the final race however, nothing stopped him from stepping up the top step again, closing the series with a win. His lead over Triz in the points ended up being 37 points and his leading lap count was well up to 477 laps.
Having almost no experience on Ovals, Triz had constantly been scoring points over the races, staying out of trouble most of the time. This resulted in having 130 points in the end, finishing 6 times on the podium out of 8 races.
CruiseCtrl finished 3rd in points with 106 points, missing the first race. His charge in the second half, collecting 73 points was quite remarkable as in the final race he was able to keep up pretty close to the fastest man Patch.
The series has been alot of fun. These cars are usually found on Road Courses. Putting them on Ovals was a different experience.
The Administrators of the series would like to thank all who have participated and congratulate Patch for winning the championship!
