hi: Does anyone know how many cars heat will allow when using the heat essentials? Also is there a way or file you change to make heat run more cars? I seem to only get 21+the pace car and would like to get 25+ pace car. any info greatly appeciated My e-mail is Gaz1943@yahoo.com thanks in advance Stan

There's no limit to the number of cars.
Actually there's a limit on the total amount of tex files that Heat can load at the same time - which can limit the number of cars. But that that limit then is specific for each mod.
There's also (AFAIK) a limit on the poligons - so again mod specific.
I have run a 35 car GroupC field at Lemans track in beta tests without trouble. And a 43 car field at Limerock track. But Heat did crash with several other mods at even lower car numbers on same tracks. It all just depends how many tex files per car

Karl, I think he's speaking about car "models" and not paints.Paints aren't limited...except for the amount you can include to show up on a drivers.txt (which is 99) But when PublicNMe01 and I worked on the Pro Street Heat mod, we found a limit of around 22-23 models (with the pacecar). Now granted...most of those were Motor City Online cars and Need For Speed 3 and 4 cars...and the polys would vary on each one. Now if we had 30 models with 1000 polys each...there may be a bigger number of models allowed...but I don't know anyone who uses such a low poly count on cars. As I suggested to him over at BHMS....he can sort of get around it by dividing some up into "Carsets" or "Series" and use ML2 to swap back and forth between them. Now....if you have 7 or 8 models in the 6000 poly range...you'll probably end up having to cut back on the number of paintjobs you ran with...or else it'll be like a slideshow...and your fps will suffer for it. Hope that helps.

Guys most of these car bodies have been edited to get rid of unneeded polys and the completed ( .car file is under 3500 kb's) the game will show me all the chassis on the drivers screen but when i go to a track it will crash if i have more than 21+pacecar. It doesn't matter if I'm running addon tracks or the real game ones it still crashes. I run a 1gig cpu with 1.5gig memory and a 512mb video card along with the heat essentials . I may just have to take Raybee's advice and make different sets .I have even set the rank on some different so i can get a variety of the chassis in under the 21 limit. Stan
