Well there are people thinking that heat will be dead soon. I don't believe that. If you see what Karl and Blaxman did with the latest mods. There are people saying that heat will die because af a lack of good tracks. Well let me say you this,HEAT will have new tracks next year and they will look awsome. Just keep that online racing going and i bring you new tracks. Heat dead, yeah right, only when i'm dead.

And there is another thing. I will support any modmaker that want to create a new mod for heat. When there are tracks missing and you need one for you're mod, then let me know. At this moment i'm bussy with a track for the new COT mod. But i will help you too.

Sounds great to me I've been off for a while for some reason; not the least because finishing SCGTS mod did wear me somewhat off in terms of simracing - far too much testruns for 3 months But I'm just working on setting up a couple of races and thus would be very happy to see an avid and numerous community joining NHeat road races

btw... I havn't been entirely idle on simracing recently I did use the time to enhance my simracing gear Put some work into making a switchbox (18 switches) and mounting a SST H-shifter to my rig. Now I just have to figure out how to assign functions to the board's switches Maybe I'll put up some pictures on the next days

Yes...and don't let an article written in A.S.S. saying that Heat is dead detour you from doing what you enjoy. Truth be told...the article pissed me off...as we have close to 900 members at The Mod Squad would would say that Heat is NOT dead.

Just only noticed this article in A.S.S. when you mentioned it... it's indeed quite a gall. Things like that article happen when authors mistake personal opinion for facts.
In terms of Magnus' diction NHeat had already been dead when SCORE picked it up in 2004 as there was no more modders than there are now and almost no online road racing. I have to admit that I was more than just a little reluctant to use NHeat at all because of that. It was some rather obscure sim in comparison to the mainstream even then. There had never been more than an average of 6-10 drivers in any SCORE NHeat race. So I wonder why he ever had run any race with Heat at all ?
More popular sims come and go all the time. It was N2k3 and F1C first (both now as much or even more dead than NHeat), now it is LFS (not moddable) and rF, which only offers single sportscar car mods apart from illegal convertions (which I won't ever use; that much honesty I grant to myself). Tomorrow it will most likely be some iRacing stuff and/or rF2. So what ?
NHeat still offers some unique conditions esp in comparison to LFS and rF - relatvely easy moddable - not-that-hardcore-simulation-but-close-enough-to - easy on hardware requirements - fully supports all my hardware (4 rather obscure controllers ;D)
It is funny to know that if it would be just about numbers in online races, Magnus would have to abandon LFS too, and ASAP, as AFAIK there had seldom (if ever) been more people in SCORE LFS races that in NHeat races....ยด

And SCGT (where Magnus came from) still has stuff being released for it from time to time.Heck....I wouldn't even call that one a "dead sim" either. But like I said at The Mod Squad...it is one person's opinion. If I came out and said that "Heat is dead"...that would be "In My Opinion" (which it isn't). I know folks who are STILL modding for Heat and will continue to do so (me being one)...and I know some new folks who are coming along with building all new tracks for Heat too (Trucky being one). And just because it may not be a road course, doesn't mean there aren't people that would use the tracks being built. If anyone here follows NASCAR (which is the main point of Heat)...would know there are STILL tracks missing from running full schedules for some of the secondary series such as Busch (now called Nationwide Series) and the Craftsman Trucks. We're still missing tracks like Mansfield,Gateway,Milwaukee,Nashville Superspeedway,Kentucky Speedway,a proper Memphis track...etc. And if you go to the main Nextel Cup...they've reconfigured Homestead (added banking) and Las Vegas (also banked that one too)...which we don't have yet...which other sims do. But that is not to say that road courses are dead,either..as a Mexico City and new Montreal could be done up to go along with the Nationwide Series...then a "new" Riverside which is being built in California, close to where the old Riverside track was at...or the Iowa Speedway (oval and road course)...which will one day have some sort of higher tier NASCAR events. They've already ran the Grand Am,ARCA and Hooters Pro Cup races there...so it's just a matter of time before Trucks or Nationwide runs it. There are still so many possibilities to be had in Heat....just don't call it "dead"...because that only irks people like myself, who has tried to pour their heart and soul into it to make it better. And as about anyone knows...if you ever need any help with anything, just give me a shout and I'll help out as much as I can.It doesn't matter to me if it's a road racing mod,a dirt mod,an asphalt mod...or a freaking windmill mod...if you need help, and I can be of some help...I will be there. ;D

I still have heat around and even though I find a lot easier to go online with LFS (huge ever-online community), I would love to have another group C series (or SCGTS).
And Karl is right, Magnus's LFS series have been as succesful as Heat's racing numbers wise 10-12 people at max...and if there is still someone wondering why the number have never gone up the answer is really simple: SCORE GT Challenge and DTM, the only Magnus LFS leagues I've been in, fairly succesful, loyal group of commited drivers...and then both leagues go down the well for completely unknown reasons, leaving people wondering what the hell is going on...enough reason for me NOT to ever sign up in any of his leagues, whatever sim it is.

Have`nt been around for a while, had some connection woes & also spent a little time in hospital... Personally i think any exposure is good, even if it`s someone saying Heat is dead... At least it might wake a few out of their stupor & who knows, maybe even get people back on the grid! The only thing that upsets me about this whole business is seeing many good friends of mine falling out with each other. I`d like to think our friendships go a bit deeper than an opinion, for or against a game. Cheers...

Have`nt been around for a while, had some connection woes & also spent a little time in hospital... Same as me, without that hospital thing though Hope everything's well on you ? And: Welcome back, Crash The only thing that upsets me about this whole business is seeing many good friends of mine falling out with each other. I`d like to think our friendships go a bit deeper than an opinion, for or against a game. 100% agreement ! But then, what would you expect people to feel like if publicly - if slightly implicit - put up as some narrowminded simracing rednecks, just because they don't share someone else's point of view - that this one declares to be the one and holy truth ? Nobody would have cared at all if Magnus would have put that statement to the front page of his site. It's a QUITE different matter to make such a statement in a that public way such as ASS is - which is what caused that stir.

Well 1st of all Heat is still a great sim and I love to race it.
but, The hardest thing to me is when a schedule is set up and at least 12 people sign up for it, after all that is done and then noticing that you run races with 7 people at the beginning of the schedule and seeing that that amount decreases with every race hurts me the most. Don't say that running with only 3 drivers is concidert fun. I've seen it happen with a lot of schedules.
Don't get me wrong because I still love to run Heat, but the online fun dies a bit every time I run a race with only a handfull of people.
As some of you know I also have rFactor and LFS (demo) but still prefer to run races in Heat.

You're right. This is depressing
But then... how would you expect people to get into these races when there's hardly a way to find out when and where these races take place ? There's only *very* few links to the series' site and no announcements on any active forum - at least any that had been taken for being active concerning Heat
Only those who had already assigned got pm when to join to what server - that was all visible promotional effort on these races. That *may* do if there's a basis of 30-40 drivers, to get an average 10 for each race - the rest will simply forget about these races or remember only *maybe*
Yes, the Heat road racing community is a rather small one. Which is why you'd have to put in more somewhat promotional effort to get numbers to the races than you'd probably have to do for a LFS or rF race. Though I even doubt that you'd have get much more people in then if only 12 would get info about the when and where by pm. These pm are only a reminder that there IS a race, but they only work on those that look forward of these races already. They are kind of lost on those that simply forgot they had assigned
Promoting the start of a series of races means making an offer for the initial race - unless you promote each single of the series' races as you did as if it would be a single race only
Once setting up a series doesn't automatically provide for drivers on any of the series' events.

Well.. ::)i''m guilty on that too. I signed in for the last group c series but never run a race. Well there is a reason for it and i want to keep it private. That's also why i never signed in for for the fall honda races. But that's all solved now and i'm ready for some good races. I'm lookind forward for a group c,scgt and euhh a COT on roadcourses series. Now you guys are thinking that it is a paved oval mod but i think that they are good for the roadcourse too. Actually they could bring some nice action. Sadly i don't have the PC and internet connection to organise it on my own.Well if i could solve it i would do it but... . Also because i'm a truckdriver it is sometimes hard to join the races.Sunday at 22h,to do a race when i need to go to work the next day at 3h,i think you understand it. I need to be fresh the next day,or i play with other people there lifes. At 21h it would be better for me.I'm using the timeschedule in Belgium,Germany and Netherlands now. I'm looking forward to see you on the racetrack guys. And a happy new year to all.
