I'm guna take 3shots here
Donington park? I take this with recent really good plans released to the forum although I remember donington being a lot flatter than that.
Oran Park? Based on the signage and the drop down chicane reminds of the one you go through just after going over the bridge however in the mirror I cant see the bend coming around the mirror may make it look different to what it is though.
Eastern creek Australia looks like it could be the section after the 2nd/3rd gear slow sweeper.

;D Hmmm no clue here either but i must say looks good. Dont keep us in suspenders too long smoke lol. BTW would u consider making it WITHOUT penalty zones for a change? , just lots of deep slowdown sand or grass??? Rob

Awsome looking track smoke.
And i ask BTW can you put MORE penalty areas and SPULTERS to keep people from leaving there foot flat when they go off track or cut the corner because black stuffs for racing on and green stuffs for growing trees on or smoking!! ( go try one of our NZspeedway tracks to see what hardcore no cutting grass track is like)
Keep up the awsome work smoke cant wait to run some laps on it.

hmmm...interesting comments on the penalty stuff...I currently have it configured for deep sand slowdown, I haven't done that before and there is a lot of sand on this one. This will catch the majority of off track driving. Also, have it for very rough grass, which I have not done either. But it does seem appropriate for at least some T-2sec-penalty traps in a few spots, but I think the sand slowdown will eliminate the need for the S-cheater traps. I need to review all that when I get to that point in the conversion. Any other comments on this penalty trap topic are welcome.

Pen traps CAN be an annoyance, true. Especially at areas where you'd never voluntarily run offtrack as there's no advantage in doing so.
The problem IMO is to force people to stay on the track while not adding too much annoyance to accidently running off track.
With GroupC mod for example, at Spa you'll only try once to shortcut or even just put a tire on gras - you'll spin out immediatly at braking or accelerating. Doesn't add to popularity of driving GroupC mod at Spa
With HMC mod on the other side, you can run on grass almost anywhere without slowing down or even any having steering trouble. No good either.
So the optimum would be somewhere in between. Running offtrack should either slow you down and/or make you slip so you'll WANT to stay on the track as running offtrack wouldn't pay off in laptimes. But you should be able to recover the car.
Lemans and Nordschleife tracks come to my mind as 2 examples where this optimum has been made real - without adding any notable penalty traps, by just adding sand pits in the right areas and setting grass areas attributes so you won't to drive there. But IF you touch grass, you'll always be able to recover the car. Even with GroupC mod.
But then Nordschleife had been beta tested especially with GroupC cars ;D And on both Lemans and Nordschleife there's not much grass to use for shortcutting. So those 2 tracks are hardly good examples to compare with most other tracks

Well Smoke my idea of penalty traps is that they are an ancient fix for a problem of cutting the track, with the new types of texutres to cause car suckdown to almost instant stop and anything a bit less drastic I think the Penalty traps are a thing of the past.
The less we see of them in new tracks the better off we are because the racing will be that much more realistic.

With the recent findings on the various surfaces types that Blaxman and Sucahyo found, the need for drastic penalty traps can be much less needed now. For instance...you can make the grass alot bumpier....which would upset the car enough that it'd make you want to stay off the grass...same goes for dirt. Now if there are dirt traps to get you stuck in them....I've always been fine with that...so long as they are not right next to the paved surface. If they are off track a little ways, with maybe some bumpy dirt/grass separating it....I think that is alot better than having to add a bunch of spit and sputter and time penalties. No "new" games have all these penalty traps....why should we?

No "new" games have all these penalty traps....why should we? Are there other "old" sims that have pen traps like Heat ? I have always thought these were unique with Heat btw.. you could shortcut like hell in quite some "modern" sims without any trouble

All good feedback...I think I have found the right combo that I like on this, I guess we'll see what everyone thinks when I wrap this one up. Looks like no T-2sec or S-"cheat" on this one, all done with surface material codes. Have moved onto other areas, coming along. Shouldn't be too much longer. Have I mentioned that I like this one!
