i followed the directions as best i could. the 24 bit file is sized to 65x94. as for the flip, the directions said horizontally yet in ()'s it said top to bottom. i did the top to bottom(vertically). i renamed the file to match my in game name precisely with ".tga". i put the file in the group c dir and main dir as well. finally i set a 3 lap race, qual on pole, and won the race as well as set fastest lap. at the finish my mug did not appear. where did i go wrong?

Just guessing ... you're talking about that drivers' photos that show up in final results listing and when you switch cars in race view, correct ?
Does sound as if you have everything the right way... unless you have used compressed 24 bit TGA instead of uncompressed 24 bit TGA, which is important ?

The size of the TGA will tell you if it's uncompressed or not. Uncompressed 24 bit TGA of size 65x94 should be 18.374 Bytes = [(24x65x95 / 8) + Header]
If the file's size is smaller, it's compressed

no clue.... just tried to run GroupC mod, using my old driver image TGA - no problem at all. I've circled through cars in practice mode; the image did show for a while (always only shows for a while) when I was back on my own car You can run a test, using my TGA, to check if it works on your system as well (would prove your TGA is at fault) www.cholerix.net/tmp/cholerix.tga

the 1st difference b'twn your file and my file is mine is saved as a paint file and yours is a document. i used w' paint to size and flip the image. then i saved it as is, i used keystroke shortcut to rename the file and to add the tga file ending. i did not save this file correctly it seems. what did u use to save the file with the proper tga file ending(association.

You will probably want to use the program Cholerix used...which is a free painting program....Gimp. If you are saving it through MS Paint,it doesn't support .tga files...and renaming the extension is not how it's properly made. You will need a program that actually supports a targa file (.tga) and Gimp,Paintshop Pro and Photoshop and the main ones used by most folks.Gimp is the only free one of the bunch.

ok i installed gimp. then i opened my file(image) in gimp. i could not locate where or how to save the file with a tga association. i have a lot of reading to do to understand gimp so please pardon me if my questions sound trivial.

np it's FILE -> SAVE AS... on the upcoming popup there's a line where you can enter the filename (including extension) and slightly below a line where it shows you what folder will be used to store that file in And one line below this, there's the "directory browser" which you have to click on to make it show up. Once you have clicked on it, you'll get an explorer-like user interface to scroll directories

i dropped the file in the grp c folder. i made sure the 2 custom_p...._ commands are in the option.cfg file. yet no reflection. i do the editing work on xp pc using flash drive. then move files to game pc which uses legacy os. could it be the picture itself? should i openmodopt.cfg file?

i dropped the file in the grp c folder. This is still about the driver image TGA file, right ? i made sure the 2 custom_p...._ commands are in the option.cfg file. yet no reflection. i do the editing work on xp pc using flash drive. then move files to game pc which uses legacy os. could it be the picture itself? should i openmodopt.cfg file? What's openmodopt.cfg ?? The only reason that would come to my mind is that you maybe have not saved the TGA uncompressed. In GIMP "save file as..." procedure there's a popup (given you had added the extension .tga to the file) that has 2 options : RLE Compression and where file starts (bottom left)- Make sure RLE compression is switched OFF
