Thanks for the practice tonight Kevin and FFSBudsman. At Fern Bay Green use caution when hitting the curbs, can make your car tip over if you hit the curb the wrong way. This track also eats your tires if you abuse them. Well finally got my set tweaked, to where I can hit a fast lap of 102.29, and tires are good to go, if you treat them right. Kevin will be putting up a link of my setup later on tonight. Thanks again guys for an awesome practice!

Thanks Dave your set helped a lot - I took about a second out of my time, still some way to go though. Dave requested I post the setup: www.bsonline.ca/racing/files/FXR_fe2-DaveO.rarHere's what the settings are & beside it, my version so far: www.bsonline.ca/racing/files/fe2.xpsIt works like this: Dave's is on the left in grey, my setup is on the third iteration of my base setup and happens to be specific to Fern Bay Green (fe2, I mistyped fe3, oops) name is therefore 3.0 fe2 and anything unchanged from the left (Dave's) has no entry on the right. I do a minimum of 10 laps and record my final time, best lap and 10 lap average. It's all fairly sequential with LFS except for the tires as I prefer to see the data organized a little differently. As it stands I'm not entirely happy with my gearing. I find this sheet helpful to compare sets side by side and see what works and what dosen't. If anyone would like, I have a blank recording sheet you can print and use as well. If you find it helpful let me know and I may make the digital file available, I just ask that you let me know if it is helpful or not www.bsonline.ca/racing/files/blank.xpsBTW these are formatted to fit a statement size sheet (5.5" x 8.5") OTHER BUSINESS: I mentioned to Dave that he/we/I should start a sub-forum for setup discussions. I know there is a big one at the LFS forum but it can be hard to find things there and we're all just a bit nicer here anyway Would anyone be interested in something like that? OR I've belonged to engineering.com/ for a good length of time now and am starting to get in tight with the lead people there (they want to use me as a test for their next version of the site as my company does collaborative BIM projects with other architects, structural engineers & mech/elec guys). A while back I got the bright idea that there might be some race engineers there and so I started a group called race (simple little name but I think the next version of the site means I'll be able to claim the url: race.engineering.com) The group has a files upload, a forum, pages etc.... if your interested it could be done there as well - and they don't need to know we race virtually so that if we're lucky we'll get real life info ;D : my.engineering.com/pg/groups/199007/race/

Hi Kevin, We have a similar tool for heat also called "Garage Viewer" which basically does the same thing as you have mentioned. It will let you view two heat setups side by side, so you can see the difference in the setups.. Now since basically a majority of us are also heat drivers, and are kinda relatively new to driving LFS. Maybe the best thing to do is to take baby steps in this direction. IMHO I think the best thing would be maybe creating an LFS setup guide, and try to simplify on how to make adjustments in LFS. Yes there are LFS setup guides already out there, but for the normal user they seem to be very complicated. Maybe a setup guide in layman's terms would be a better thing to do at first. Since most of us are heat drivers, it would be a big help to everyone. imho

Ya that's kinda what I wanted to do - a guide that is not game specific.
BTW can you link that garage viewer please?

wait, modsquad? NH or LFS or non-specific? Yes, like my previous post I had said it's for Nascar Heat. Opps I'm bad I called it "Garage Viewer" Instead of "Detached Garage" I haven't used it in years. What I'm trying to say is, I think it would be great to have a written general Setup Guide for LFS, thats not so complicated like the LFS setup guides that you would find on the internet. Just a basic setup guide that explains how to do adjustments, kinda like what Karl has for heat. speedsims.net/tutorials/setup_guide_index.htmlIn the next two weeks I'll write up a general LFS setup guide for everyone.

oh I get it now would it be possible to make it non-game specific so that it would be useable for NH, LFS and for where ever we go next? edit: and maybe we should move some of these posts
