Just finished work on my button box and mounted it to my rig. It's been build on base of this little friendWas a lot of soldering but now works like a charm ;D

That is seriously cool! How much did that cost to put together?? Can we see some of the insides... time to show off your tidy wiring.

Can we see some of the insides... time to show off your tidy wiring. To be honest, I don't dare reopen up the button box ;D It's was kind of a struggle to make all the wiring fit into the box without DC some of the soldering points. About the cost... well, the button box was about 50 EUR in total, half of it for the controller. Rest was buttons, switches and the box. And cost for the whole rig... eh... quite some bucks, I'd say ;D But since I've only added one part each year, it was affordable. In total it must have been about 2k EUR on the last 6 years for 2002: home-build rig (~150) 2002: seat (80, sparco, ebay) 2003: pedals (400, BRD) 2004: sound + trackball added to rig (~ 100) 2005: shifter (200, SST) 2006: wheel (1000, VRR) 2008: home-build buttonbox (~50) All rock solid stuff

Holy nuts! Me wants!! Now that I've moved to my new flat and I dont have to be afraid of wasting space with ubertoys like those, I might engage in one of those cool rig projects. As soon as I have a proper sofa, paid the bike, get rid of the raw bulbs hanging from the ceiling and get real lamps, etc... Maybe not THAT soon, but heck you can bet I will! ;D Awesome work Karl, have you thought of adding a buttkicker? I heard it makes a lot of difference, though I dont think it will with heat EDIT: No mic, no drink slot?? Thats no endurance set I guess I should have made a few pics of me during the Live For Speed 24 hours last year, surrounded by stuff ;D. Karl, any blueprints available for the frame? Would be the starting point for me.

Karl, any blueprints available for the frame? Would be the starting point for me. Point is, I had to use what material was available at my local home improvement store back then. But there's far better alloy tubes out there for use on building a rig than I was using - but I couldn't get a hold on those better ones. So if I had to start over, there's things I'd do in a different way. But some info about sizes indeed would still be of use, so I could setup a blueprint. Guess I'll do The blueprint, not starting all over ;D btw... using a trackball was one of the more brilliant ideas. It's placed so that it can be reached and used easily; never got that ergonomy with a mouse on the rig A drink holder .... since I'm sitting only some 20cm above ground, I had placed drinks on the floor up to now. But great suggestion for further improvement

I can't see a keyboard in any of those shots, Cholerix, I presume there's one in there somewhere?
ETA: Oh, wait a minute, I think I can just see the edge of one under the wheel there... does it slide or lift out or something?

Awesome! I have a starting point now. Been since march without doing a single race, the itch is starting to get bad

Slide I've just mounted two L-profile alloy parts below the plate to store the keyboard. Keyboard fits in there perfectly as it is exactly the right width and has square body

Awesome! I have a starting point now. Be aware that the height of the wheel mounting plate depends on what wheel you're using. Or rather on it's angle (related to plate) My wheel is 90° to plate; most wheels out there are probably < 80°, so the mounting plate would need to have less height to put the wheel into comfortable position

Well, as for now, I still dont have a computer at home (first time I dont have one since I was 7), but it shouldnt be too long since my favourite games are Heat, LFS, UFO: Enemy Unknown and Civilization...and none of them are resource hungry ;D
Nice to see you around Kev, no more IGTC going on?
