This is a base setup that Ron created a few months back, when the series was in it's planning stages.. It's a great setup to start with as a base. Attachments:

Here's mine. Runs cooler than the one above but it has a fine line of tight or loose handling in the S and final turns depending on how fast you enter them. I ran a 34.19 lap with it so far. Attachments:

thanks guys for both the setups, I have tweaked and ran both.
DaveO's setup with a lil tweaks can be really good, i'm trying to work with it, it hands very well in the oval turn. Yet is very loose in the road course part. I just started to work on it. I ran a 34.010 with it today, I just really started working on it in earnest today though.
Spikeg's setup is similar to the Sonoma IRL setup, I think there are some differences, but they are minor. I have worked on this one with some gear ratios. It handles much better in the road course, but I've found it inconsistent in the oval part, plus it gets tighter the longer it runs. Which a fuel run with 2x which some may have found out is around 25 or so laps. Yet I've worked with it more, and gotten a 33.209. That of course is around 10 laps or so of a 40 lap practice run I did. This setup usually degrades around 15 laps, where to other one, I'm not sure yet. I'm hoping it get tighter as time goes on.

Yeah I've noticed that as well ucrdoh. I'm not sure offhand if it was the sonoma one or not before I tweaked it. I tweaked the gearing a bit more and ran 33.1. The front right tire seems to get the hottest while the other 3 stay within 20 degrees of each other.

well i just ran DaveO's setup again, i got a 33.057 on it. It runs a lot better into the later part of a run, which is much more critical in race setup, however, it drives much differently than I'm used to with setups such as Spikeg's. I'm still getting used to it, but the potential is there. So i'll probably run more faux race runs until i'm fully used to the way it drives.

Guys I can't take credit for that setup. The setup your talking about belongs to Ron aka Oldnslow, he created that base setup for all of us months ago. So please give the credit to Ron! I'll start running some more laps tomorrow, and I'll post my lap times on here for you guys.. Normally we get online for practice during the week a couple of times. But it's just been a hectic week with work, and a few other things. If anyone's intrested in getting online for a practice on Thursday at normal race time, I'll gladly run a few laps also? Dave

I'll join ya as soon as I figure out how to get online thru heat. It'd be nice to run with somebody that can keep up with me. I still lap the AI even with the expert or 105% settings.

Launch the Plat. Grand Prix using Mod launcher, make sure you select the IZOD IndyCar 2010 carset. At the mods main screen go thru these steps: 1. Type in your handle name were it says Players Name. 2. Select Multiplayer 3. Next screen select the car your going to drive then click on the the select button. 4. Next screen always click on the ISDN for multiplayer use. Then click on the word " find5. That will bring up a little menu asking you to enter in "Host IP address" Here you would type in the server's IP address. 6. Type in speedsims.no-ip.org Click ok. You will get a message that says " request succeeded"7 Next menu select connect. Once you do that it will bring you into the server's lobby. FYI: You need at least two people on the server to race/practice online. If you have any problems connecting, just post back here. cya at practice today!

Just a quick tip before the race tomorrow: Enter the last turn @ about 65mph. I've logged about 100+ laps since the practice last night and found that is the ideal speed for that last turn. 70+mph seems to push the car too wide and into the gravel on the right.
Quick question: How do you make changes while on pit road like increasing/decreasing air pressure in tires or +/- wedge adjustments?

Quick question: How do you make changes while on pit road like increasing/decreasing air pressure in tires or +/- wedge adjustments? Heat doesn't have that option. After you set the values in the garage and go out on the track the settings can't be adjusted until you go back to the garage. So with the settings you have put in you'll have to run the race/practise, it can't be adjusted when your on the track/pitroad. Chris

On a XP machine if you hit the F8 option it brings up a little menu called adjustments. If you hit the option F8 AGAIN, it brings up another window to were you can change the tires PSI. Hit F8 again, and you will see the wedge adjustment section. When you go to pit, during the race you can have the pit crew change your tires PSI, wedge adjustments. It's a very cool and unique feature that heat has. and YES you can do this in the middle of a race or practice. It's just limited to a few adjustments that you can do while racing/practicing. ;D
